The Czech Geological Survey is the largest domestic publisher of geological literature. It publishes scientific and popular science publications, maps and magazines. Books and maps produced by the CGS are available in the CGS Geological Bookstore and CGS eShop.
Books and maps produced by the CGS present mainly the results of work that our geologists perform in the Czech Republic and various parts of the world. Maps at various scales describe the geology of selected areas as well as geochemistry, geohazards or minerals. Many include explanatory notes. Specialized books are devoted to various geoscience branches. Popular science publications introduce selected geological topics to anyone interested in natural science, regardless of age.
Journals are intended primarily for the expert community and the CGS has long maintained a high professional standard, even at an international level as in the case of the Bulletin of Geosciences. All CGS journals - Bulletin of Geosciences, Journal of Geological Sciences and Geoscience Research Reports - are also available online.
Applications for online shop of the CGS, the largest publisher of geological literature in the Czech Republic. E-shop offers around 2.800 products, both from our own production and from other publishing houses. It mainly sells publications, maps and periodicals produced by the ČGS, as well as popular science publications, atlases and children's publications from other publishers. In addition to books, the online shop also offers a geological hammer and other tools for the field, as well as tools for samples, rocks, minerals and fossils.
Application of Dictionary of geology is an electronic version of the geological dictionary compiled by Otakar Zeman, Karel Beneš and co-authors published by Academia Praha publishing house in 1985. Some missing terms were added by: Zdeněk Kukal, Petr Hradecký, Vladislav Rapprich and Marcela Stárková.
The largest publisher of geological literature in the Czech Republic is the Czech Geological Survey Publishing House. That is also why publishing has been an essential part of the institute since its foundation and why it is included in the CGS statutes.
