A prestigious cartographical award Map of the year 2007 for CGS

Within the 10th anniversary run of the cartographical contest Map of the year, which is held by the Cartographical Society of the Czech Republic, the new Geological Map of the Czech Republic 1 : 500 000 (J. Cháb, Z. Stráník, M. Eliáš) has been awarded the first prize in the category of the Individual cartographical piece. The awards ceremony took place at the international book fair Book World on 25th April 2008 in Prague. There were 73 map entries from 30 producers (including renowned private companies like SHOCart, Geodézie a.s., Kartografie Praha etc.) in the category of the Individual cartographical piece. This prestigious award is a significant impulse to subsequent work in the field of map production and the development of digital cartography methods for the whole team of GIS specialists and the employees of the CGS publishing office under the leadership of Mgr. Robert Tomas, PhD. and RNDr. Zuzana Krejčí, CSc.
