In terms of long-term evaluation of science and research results, conducted by the government’s Research, Development and Innovation Council (R&D&I) according to the Methodology 2017+/Methodology for Evaluating Research Organisations, the Czech Geological Survey (CGS):
- is the best performing research organization in the Ministry of the Environment (MoE), and
- delivers the most high-quality geoscience results in the Czech Republic within the MoE.
In terms of bibliometric analysis:
- the CGS has the highest number of outputs published in high-quality international journals, which rank in the TOP 10 and 25 within their respective fields, and
- its publication output is well above the national and international median and reflects significant international and national collaboration.
In terms of evaluated selected results, the CGS:
- has the most high-quality selected results (grades 1–3), evaluated with regard to social relevance or significance for society and contribution to the knowledge of given discipline among all research organizations of the Ministry of Environment (MoE) (excluding universities and the Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS)),
- delivers the most high-quality selected results among all evaluated research organizations (including universities and the CAS) in the field of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and
- ranks in the top ten among all research organizations in the Czech Republic with regard to the share of research organizations producing the most high-quality selected outputs in the Natural Sciences and all other fields.
