Journals published by the CGS maintain a high professional level. For instance, the Bulletin of Geosciences is one of the top-rated Czech science journals. All journal issues are available online free of charge thanks to the consistent effort of the CGS to provide the public with information.

Bulletin of Geosciences
The Bulletin of Geosciences is the most important scientific journal published by the CGS. The first issue was published in April 1925. Since then, thousands of scientific papers were published in the journal and it has gradually become an archive of the most important scientific research on the geology of the Bohemian Massif. In 2007, the Bulletin of Geosciences was included as an international scientific journal in the most prestigious databases. Today, the Bulletin of Geosciences belongs among the ten most important science journals published in the Czech Republic.
The Bulletin of Geosciences is an international journal publishing original research papers, review articles, and short contributions concerning palaeoenvironmental geology, including palaeontology, stratigraphy, sedimentology, palaeogeography, palaeoecology, palaeoclimatology, geochemistry, mineralogy, geophysics, and related fields. All papers are subject to international peer review, and acceptance is based on quality alone. Since the No. 1 / 2007 Bulletin of Geosciences has been accepted to the ISI database (Web of Science).
Geoscience Research Reports
The Geoscience Research Reports, a compilation of reports, has been published since 1952 as a periodical in printed form by the Czech Geological Survey. Since 1991, it has been providing free access to the full texts of published papers in electronic form as well. The journal was also included in the SCOPUS database, the largest citation and abstract database of peer-reviewed literature. The full-colour publication with English abstracts is included in the List of Peer-Reviewed Periodicals Without Impact Factors, approved by the Czech government‘s Research, Development and Innovation Council.
The Geoscience Research Reports provide the general public with up-to-date knowledge from a wide range of geological disciplines. It presents the results of research findings of universities and academic departments, government institutions and private companies, whether it be regional geology, stratigraphy, Quaternary geology, engineering geology, palaeontology, mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry, hydrogeology, minerals, geophysics, geoinformatics or research abroad. The published articles have a high level of expertise and are peer-reviewed.
Special Papers
This is not a standard periodical but a sequentially numbered edition covering a wide range of geological topics. Individual volumes address various aspects of regional geology, petrography, sedimentology, paleontology, geophysics or particular environmental issues such as radon risk.
Journal of Geological Sciences
The original Journal of the State Geological Institute of the Czechoslovak Republic, whose volume I/1919-1920 was published in 1921, was subdivided into geological and paleontological editions in 1950. Ten years later, separate editions of the Journal of Geological Sciences were published Geology, Paleontology, Economic Geology and Mineralogy, Anthropocene, Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology, Applied Geophysics, and Technology and Geochemistry.

Journal of Geosciences
The Czech Geological Survey is a co-publisher of the Journal of Geosciences, which is released by the Czech Geological Society with the aid of grants from the Council of Scientific Societies of the Czech Republic and the Czech Literary Fund Foundation. Being a periodical with a long tradition, it follows its predecessors Časopis pro mineralogii a geologii (“Journal of Mineralogy and Geology“) and the Journal of the Czech Geological Society. It focuses on process-oriented studies dealing mainly with mineralogy, structural geology, petrology and geochemistry of igneous and metamorphosed rocks. Monothematic special issues are also published in addition to standard issues.
The Journal of Geosciences maintains a high standard and is indexed in a number of database services, including the prestigious Web of Science, Scopus and GeoRef. As a result, it received an impact factor from Thomson Reuters in 2011. It can be purchased from the Czech Geological Society.
