The laboratory is engaged in research on phase relationships and on the synthesis of phases and natural analogues of minerals. It focuses primarily on the synthesis of chalcogenides and phases with Pt-group metals. The laboratory mostly uses the sealed quartz ampoule method.
The laboratory collaborates with a number of renowned scientists from the Czech Republic and abroad. More than thirty analogues of new minerals were synthesized in the laboratory.
