BiH Project Continues: Partners Presented Results in Bihać

The fourth joint meeting of the project team for the international project Innovation of Geological Information Systems in Bosnia and Herzegovina took place from September 15 to 17, 2026, in Bihać, Bosnia. The project is led by the Czech Geological Survey, with the Geological Survey of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FZZG) and the Geological Survey of Republika Srpska (RZZGI) serving as partner organizations. The project is funded by the Czech Development Agency.
As the project enters its penultimate year of implementation, the meeting aimed to evaluate progress to date, present results, and plan final activities. Representatives from both partner geological surveys in Bosnia presented the specific topics addressed and their successful completion. During thematic sessions, they showcased practical demonstrations of newly developed or upcoming solutions – the Metadata Catalogue, Geoportal, Digital Archive, and new websites for both institutions. Panel discussions focused not only on modernizing the management and accessibility of geological data but also on the significant benefits of professional training and internships for the development of local specialists.
The program also included a meeting of the Advisory Body dedicated to opportunities for further cooperation, as well as several expert workshops focused on specific project topics.
The Czech side was also represented by officials from the Czech Development Agency and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Bosnian side was represented by officials from local ministries, geological surveys, universities, and professional organisations.
