At the end of April, a very intensive study stay of Georgian specialists took place in the Czech Republic as part of the development project "Georgia 2024" supported by the Czech Challenge Fund 2023 program.
The main part of the week-long visit was a series of workshops and trainings thematically focused on the prevention of geological risks and especially landslides, including practical field training and a demonstration of the methodology of mapping and assessing the dangers and risks of slope movements. An integral part were theoretical and practical demonstrations of the use of remote sensing tools, including the presentation of a newly developed tool for the automatic detection of changes in the landscape, which Georgia will receive through this project. As part of the study stay, experts from NEA will also participate in the traditional geomorphological conference SoGR2024, which brought together more than 70 experts from seven countries, which provided an opportunity to establish new contacts with other professional institutions not only from the Czech Republic, which work in the field of geological risk prevention .
Issues of possible further cooperation were also discussed with the director of ČGS Zdenek Venera.
