On 10–12 September, in the picturesque city of Mostar in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina, another of the regular meetings dedicated to the presentation of the results of the project “Innovation of Geological Information Systems in Bosnia and Herzegovina” took place. In addition to experts from the Czech Geological Survey and the two Bosnian geological surveys, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Czech Development Agency, the Czech Embassy, the Bosnian Ministry of Energy and Mining, the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosnian universities and other important institutions.
The opening ceremony was enriched by a speech by the Czech Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jana Lolić Šindelka, who emphasised the key role of this project in strengthening the expertise of local professionals, improving data management and information availability, and promoting cooperation between geological surveys.
During the meeting, the progress made so far in different thematic areas of the project was presented, which is necessary to achieve the main objective of improving access to geological information in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The agenda also included a meeting of the Advisory Committee, which discussed key issues for the successful progress of the project.
The project is implemented by the Czech Geological Survey (CGS) in cooperation with the Geological Survey of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FZZG) and the Geological Survey of Republic of Srpska (RZZGI). Funding is provided by the Czech Development Agency (CzDA) and the project is scheduled to run for the period from January 2023 to December 2026.
