Meetings in Sarajevo and Zvornik: checking map data and preparing a metadata system
Olga Moravcová, Otmar Petyniak
On April 16–18, 2024, GIS specialists from the Czech Geological Survey held working meetings in Zvornik and Sarajevo with partners from the project Innovation of Geological Information Systems in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A major benefit of the meeting was the detailed review of map documents in both printed and digital form and the in-depth discussion of the inventory of data in individual geoinformation systems, including their storage, updating methods, quality, and scope. Special attention was paid to coordinate systems, which were verified for all sources, and a short instructional presentation on their correct use was also held in both organizations.
The individual data sources were presented by their current administrators, and the inventory was supplemented with non-map data sources, such as archives and internal directories. In addition, practical training focused on editing metadata records took place in Zvornik. The technical parameters of the planned metadata system, which will be an important tool for managing and sharing geoscience data in the future, were also discussed.
