In 2006, the Administration of the National Park and Protected Landscape Area of Šumava and the Czech Geological Survey jointly published a book in Czech with the title Průvodce geologií Šumavy (Guide to the Geology of the Šumava Mountains) by authors Jiří Babůrek, Jaroslava Pertoldová, Kryštof Verner a Josef Jiřička. Now this book Guide to the Geology of the Šumava Mountains has been published in an English version. The book is intended not only for specialists, but also for all those with an interest in the geological composition and development of the Šumava Mts and the many other natural features that contribute to the beauty of this unique area. The latest geological discoveries that relate to the development of the whole planet Earth are also included in the book. In addition to two large fold-out maps, the text is supplemented by many small maps and diagrams, and there are numerous colour photographs illustrating the scenic beauty of the Šumava Mts.
