On 25–26 March 2025, Prague hosted the regular semi-annual face-to-face working meeting of the GSEU – WP7 project (European Geological Data Infrastructure). The event took place at the Institute of Geophysics of the Czech Academy of Sciences in in Prague, Spořilov district, where the lecture hall provided a welcoming atmosphere and excellent facilities for both presentations and teleconferencing.
A total of 26 experts from 13 European countries attended in person, with an additional 6 participants joining virtually via videoconference. Leaders of the individual work packages and activities presented the progress of their teams over the past six months and outlined plans for the upcoming period. A major part of the agenda focused on technical components of EGDI, including development of a new search tool, the transition of EGDI from a data platform to a knowledge-based infrastructure and the planned consolidation of the EGDI architecture.
Intensive and technically detailed discussions led to a number of concrete proposals, which were evaluated collectively and resulted in important decisions regarding the future direction of the project. The Prague meeting once again highlighted the value of face-to-face collaboration in managing European geoscience initiatives.
