In the framework of the development project Innovation of Geological Information Systems in Bosnia and Herzegovina, funded by the Czech Development Agency, a workshop on data and metadata management for staff from the Geological Survey of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FZZG) and the Geological Survey of the Republika Srpska (RZZGI) was held on 10-12 December at the Czech Geological Survey in Prague, Klárov.
The CGS organisational team, consisting of staff from the Informatics Department supported by other colleagues, introduced the staff of the geological surveys of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the basics of the structure and management of the Central Data Storage (CDS) and the management of a project data workflow. Participants also emphasized on the management of the local metadata catalogue and metadata and their use for the purposes of the organisation and for fulfilling its external obligations within Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union.
The theme of the workshop corresponded to the ongoing installation of new IT infrastructure in these geological services. The workshop was attended directly by the staff responsible for this activity, who will be dealing with the development of CDS in their organisations in the coming days.
