After a brief appreciation of scientific work of J.E. Hibsch who studied the České středohoří (CS) Mts young alkaline volcanic complex in first half of the past century, the book summarizes and overviews geology, volcanology, petrology and other knowledge on that area which is a part of the Meso-Cenozoic Ohře Rift. A brief view of geology and petrology of the next largest young alkaline volcanic complex of the Ohře Rift – the Doupovské hory (DH) Mts – and a mutual comparison of both the CS Mts and the DH Mts is presented.
