Czech Geological Survey is the co-ordinator of the CO2NET EAST European project
Vít Hladík
On 1 October 2006, the international CO2NET EAST project has been started, a Co-ordination Action funded by the European Commission within the 6th Framework Programme for research and technology development. The main goal of the project is “CO2 capture and storage (CCS) networking extension to new EU Member States and Associate Candidate Countries”. CCS is one of the most important methods leading to lowering of the greenhouse gases content in the atmosphere. Principal project activities include building of general awareness concerning CCS technology capabilities in the countries involved as well as dissemination of knowledge and know-how coming from the main research & development projects in Europe. Project implementation is a task of a consortium consisting of 7 R&D institutions from new EU Member States and Associate Candidate Countries and Statoil, the Norwegian industry partner. Project co-ordinator is Dr. Vit Hladik (vit.hladik@geology.cz) from Czech Geological Survey.
