Rocks 'n' ROL is coming to Prague in November
The 3rd virtual meeting of IGCP 735 Rocks and the Rise of Ordovician Life: Filling knowledge gaps in the Early Palaeozoic Biodiversification is coming to Prague! Let’s meet online in the heart of Europe and enjoy together four days of scientific discussions. All friends of the Ordovician are welcome to join this virtual conference for free. Please find below important dates and deadlines to book in your calendar.

Registration
Free registration is required to secure your spot and receive the Zoom link and password for the online meeting.
Call for Abstracts
All participants are invited to submit an abstract for consideration as an oral session talk or lightning talk during the online conference.

Abstract Content
- Abstracts should be no more than 300 words and formatted as a Microsoft Word (.docx) file to fit comfortably within a single A4 page.
- Please refer to the attached template for guidance on font size and formatting.
- Clearly indicate your preferred presentation style (oral session talk or lightning talk) within the abstract itself.

Special Volume of the Bulletin of Geosciences
Get your work included in a Special Volume of the Bulletin of Geosciences. Our volume will focus on the Ordovician period and will cover a range of topics, including systematics, sedimentology, stratigraphy, palaeoecology, ichnology, and taphonomy. The deadline for submission of manuscripts is July 1, 2025.
The special issue will be published as the first volume of 2026, with individual articles released online independently as they are accepted. The editors of this Special Volume are Martina Nohejlová, Lukáš Laibl, Yves Candela, and Bertrand Lefebvre.
Please submit your paper to editorial.bulletin@geology.cz. In your email, please include the following sentence: 'This paper is a contribution to the Special Volume dedicated to the IGCP 735 project, Rocks and the Rise of Ordovician Life.
The Bulletin of Geosciences is an international journal publishing original research papers, review articles, and short contributions concerning palaeoenvironmental geology, including palaeontology, stratigraphy, sedimentology, palaeogeography, palaeoecology, palaeoclimatology, geochemistry, mineralogy, geophysics, and related fields. All papers are subject to international peer review, and acceptance is based on quality alone. Since the No. 1 / 2007 Bulletin of Geosciences has been accepted to the ISI database (Web of Science).
Conference format
The online virtual meeting will use Zoom video conferencing. To participate, we recommend creating a Zoom account in advance for a smooth experience.
Zoom Access: You will need a Zoom account to join the meeting. Zoom offers a free basic plan that works well for most conference attendees.
Joining Options
- You can interface with Zoom via the desktop client, a mobile app, or join the meeting directly through your browser (Google Chrome recommended) if you are unable to download the Zoom desktop client.
- We recommend the desktop client or mobile app, which use less bandwidth than Zoom in your browser. However, if bandwidth is a significant concern, you can still join the meeting directly through your browser (Google Chrome recommended).
Presentation Formats
- Keynote Talks: 40 minutes (35 minutes for the presentation + 5-minute Q&A session). Presenters have the option to submit a pre-recorded presentation.
- Oral Sessions: 20 minutes (15 minutes for the presentation + 5-minute Q&A session). Presenters have the option to submit a pre-recorded presentation.
- Lightning Talks: 5 minutes total (3-minute pre-recorded presentation + 2-minute Q&A session). Lightning talks must be submitted in advance.
Presentation Delivery Options
Speakers can choose to:
- Present live: Share their screen with slides during their assigned time slot using their preferred presentation software (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Adobe PDF).
- Submit a pre-recorded presentation (MP4 format) in advance. Please keep file sizes small and use a headset with a microphone for optimal audio quality. Pre-recorded presentations must be sent to the organizers.Deadline for submission: 10th November 2024.
